GIVING THANKS MIGHT BE YOUR ANSWER !
A SMALL ACT OF OBEDIENCE THAT GETS GOD’S ATTENTION.
A few days ago I was reminded again of the benefits of responding to an instruction God has given us in the New Testament. I had been bugged for a month with a physical ailment. I had prayed about it, believed concerning it, and done all the Bible tells us Christians to do when we encounter problems of any kind. I remembered I had missed one clear instruction God gives us in a number of places in the New Testament.
1Thessalonians 5:16–18 Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
I gave thanks for it and bingo! it was gone. It is an instruction, which means obedience is involved. When we became Christians we committed ourselves to living God’s way. God’s way is revealed to us in the Bible. The details are there for us to respond to.
Meditating on this verse I came up with these facts. Firstly it says ‘in all circumstances’. That means good or bad. Pleasant experiences and unpleasant experiences. ‘All’ means all. It is to be a response to God peculiar to Christians. A part of the life we now live, different from the rest of the World. It something that marks the life of those who are ‘in Christ Jesus’ .
