God has things going on with kids, Christian and Non-Christian, adults may not be aware of. Sometime back a Christian newsletter I received had the story of the experience of a small girl. Her exact age I cannot remember. She was not old enough to attend school. Under the care of her Grandmother and Grandfather for the day, all three were enjoying themselves at the backyard pool. Grandpa was in the pool and saw the events as they happened.

Grandma was sitting at the top of the ladder of the pool slide. She had not noticed the little girl had climbed the ladder and was directly behind her. She shifted back and knocked the girl from the ladder. Grandpa watched as the child did a somersault and gently landed on her bottom on the concrete. God had taken care of the situation. Something else remarkable happened that did not come to light for a month or so. Between the time the child left the ladder and her landing on the concrete, she had been taken to heaven, where she met and talked with many children. I cannot remember all the details but I do remember she talked with a boy who had been killed in a traffic accident.

Later she was able to point out the boy's grave. The girl had said nothing about her experience. It came to light a month or so later when something she said prompted her parents to ask questions. The girl wanted to stay in heaven, but was told she must return or hearts would be broken. A similar thing happened with Colton Burpo ( from the book ‘Heaven is for Real’). It was quite sometime after his heavenly visit, as the family drove past the hospital the boy had been in, that he commented, “that’s where the angels sang to me.”

I saw evidence of God at work in my own children. My stepson was only a little guy when he came into my room one day, and the Holy Spirit said to me “ask him if he wants to receive Jesus.” When he followed my prayer to receive Jesus, his pronunciation was much clearer than his normal speech. Later at an evangelistic meeting, still a little guy, he looked up at me mid-meeting and said “I just gave my life away to God.” A few years on he told me of an incident that had happened on the school bus in the morning. He asked a boy if he would like to receive Jesus as his savior. The boy said no, and my stepson informed him he would go to hell then. The boy’s response was he did not care if he went to hell.

Five minutes after, the boy changed his mind and said he would like to receive Jesus. These kids were in their first or second year of school. My daughter came home from pre-school one day with a story that to her was amazing. The children had become restless because the school bus was late. My daughter had asked a friend to receive Jesus and the girl had declined. She told me, “It came to my mind Dad, to tell her if she received Jesus the bus would come. She prayed to receive Jesus, and do you know Dad, the bus came over the hill.”

I made no comment except to join with her in being amazed at what had happened. God’s activity in the world of kids is sometimes a little different.
