PUZZLING PASSAGES FROM THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS

I have written quite a few Christian books. Most of them necessitated in-depth Bible study. During this study I began to notice passages which were puzzling. Passages I did not have the answer for. I am not casting doubt on the Bible’s authenticity here. Perhaps God wants us to think more deeply and pay more attention to what we are reading when we come across these anomalies.

Here are four passages that present something of a puzzle:

Genesis 1:1–5 God says ‘let there be light, and there was light.’ Verse 5 tells us that happened on the first day. We know all light on the earth comes from the Sun. Gen1:16 describes God’s creation of the Sun and Moon. Gen1:19 says it happened on the fourth day. What then was the light God created at :3 the first day? At verse 5 He called the darkness night and the light day — on the first day?

My answer: I asked God about it and this verse came to mind. 1Thessalonians 5:5 ‘You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.’ This is talking about spiritual light and darkness, and calling it night and day. Is Gen 1:1–5 referring to spiritual light and darkness? In my opinion it is.
