Positional Theology Not the Truth-a Subtle Side Step of Spiritual Reality

The Positional Theology preacher says, “God sees us as seated in Heavenly in Christ Jesus.”

The New Testament says, “We are seated in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:6) Because he who is joined to the Lord is one Spirit with Him. (1 Corinthians 6:17) Positional Theology is not the truth because it is a denial of the Spiritual realities of the Christian life. Somewhere along the line somebody was struggling to reconcile what the Word of God said, with their subjective experience. Their answer was to develop the theory of Positional Theology.

Which essentially says, “I cannot live the holy life God asks of me in the New Testament, so I retreat into the idea that God sees me as righteous, holy etc etc, even though my real life does not measure up to that.” A bumper sticker that was popular years ago was created from the same way of thinking. It said, “Christians are not perfect, just forgiven.” Whereas, even way back in the Old Testament, God said to Abraham, “Walk before me and be perfect.”

The New Testament says Jesus has perfected believers forever by His offering of Himself. (Hebrews 10:14) The lesson to be learned is; if you cannot reconcile your experience with…
