THE SECRETS TO SUCCESSFUL PRAYER.
THE GOAL OF PRAYER IS TO GET AN ANSWER.
Prayer in general, is simply talking to God. The Bible calls conversation with God supplication. Supplication comes from the Latin verb supplicare, which means ‘to plead humbly.’ It is used sixty times in the Bible. In the New Testament you find a separation between prayer and supplication. (Philippians 4:6) ‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.’
Jesus had some surprising things to say about prayer, and He gave us the secrets to have our prayers answered every time. As is the case in every aspect of our Christian life, we look to the Bible to teach us how to pray effectively. Jesus emphasized persistence in praying. (Mathew7:7) ‘Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.’
Faith is of prime importance when praying. Faith is claiming or standing on what God has said about a topic. As an example, the above verse tells us if we ask, seek, and knock persistently we will eventually receive our request. Therefore we ask, seek and knock expectantly, knowing the promise will be fulfilled. A surefire way to have prayer answered immediately is to join with other Christians in prayer. (Mathew…
